Building Permits
Building permits are required for all new construction, renovations, fences, patios, decks, etc. To obtain a building permit, download the application and submit a sketch of the project. The zoning administrator will set up an appointment to review the project to verify it meets all criteria.
Right of Way Trees
In May 2018, a tree inventory was conducted by Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Top three genus at that time was Maple 48%, Ash 17%, and Crabapples 8%. The city removed ash trees from the right-of way in 2023 due to emerald ash borer. At that time Ordinance 150 was amended to add permit application required for planting trees in the right of way.
